I definitely want to go! Long-standing and famous shops in Ginza

Ginza brings to mind a high class shopping district for elegant women of status. However Ginza isn’t just expensive, but a place where you can find the best of what you are looking for. Here I will introduce some unusual places that are worth checking out. Let’s rediscover the Ginza you desire, full of sentiment and chances to meet new things.

[SHIROIBARA] A classic style cabaret you don’t see too often

The neon sign springs to life once evening falls.

Feel the excitement of a gorgeous dance show put on by professional dancers!

Shiroibara is a traditional style cabaret that opened in 1931 in Ginza’s 3rd district and appears to be a leftover night spot from the Showa era that has kept its original appearance to this day.

The interior has a retro feel as if you’ve slipped back through time. Here you can enjoy the highest form of entertainment, dance performances with a live band! One point that recommends this business is the moderate price asked for such a high quality experience. Definitely check out this Ginza night club that has been around for more than 80 years.

Look for the “tooth” illustration!

The shop is packed with oral care goods you can’t find anywhere else

Megadent is the only German oral care shop in Japan. They offer many products that are not seen at usual drugstores or supermarkets, and they carry over 1000 types of oral hygiene goods from Europe, America, and other countries!

Using Germany’s advanced views on oral health as our base, they offer “optimal oral care for each individual” based on customer’s needs. You’ll definitely want to buy the cute, pop style dental items from overseas.

Coffee and Karai Rice Shop New Castle was established in 1946. Practically right after the war this restaurant has continued to satisfy the hearts and stomachs of the Ginza area with warm food and a shop full of history. Closing in 2012 due to bad building conditions, it was revived with the help of their dedicated customers. Famous for their “Karai rice”, curry rice available in different sizes, the portions are given names from the Keihin Tohoku train line stations such as Shinagawa, Oi, and Omori, which adds a playful feel to the experience. The shop sign and menu have a charm that is held over from days of the past.

[HAKUHINKAN TOY PARK] A long-standing toy store; My first time visiting!

I’m sure there are many of you who have seen bright buildings like this, but have never gone inside. This is HAKUHINKAN TOY PARK, a toy store offering toys, games, character goods, party supplies, and more spanning from the first floor basement to the 4th floor. You can find the “Fashion Doll Park” on the first floor basement, where many fashion dolls like Licca-chan, Barbie, etc. and dress-up doll goods are on display! Men also have no reason to fear as there are items sure to evoke boyhood memories like board games, action games, plastic models, trading cards, etc. which are all available on the “Game & Hobby” floor (4th floor). Be sure to make a visit to this toy store where adults, children, men and women can enjoy themselves.
